Gas Hydrates in the Geo-System I

The following projects were funded within the German National Gas Hydrates Research Programme under the umbrella of the R&D-Programme GEOTECHNOLOGIEN by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) between October 2000 and March 2004:

  • GHOSTDABS - Gas Hydrates: Occurrence, Stability, Transformation, Dynamics, and Biology in the Black Sea
  • INGGAS - Integrated Geophysical Characterisation and Quantification of Gas Hydrates
  • Kinetics - Microstructure, Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Gas Hydrates 
  • LOTUS - Long-term Observatory for the Study of Control Mechanisms for the Formation and Destabilisation of Gas Hydrates
  • MALLIK - In-situ Gas Hydrate Laboratory
  • MUMM - Methane in Gas Hydrate Bearing Sediments - Turnover Rates and Microorganisms
  • OMEGA - Shallow Marine Gas Hydrates: Dynamics of a Sensitive Methane Reservoir
  • Paleoarchive - Isotopic Composition of Methane in the Paleo-atmospheric Archive of Polar Ice Cores - Climate Relevance of Natural Sources in the Geo-system
  • TIGER - Technology and Instrumentation for Exploration and Research of Gas Hydrate Reservoirs
