Tomography of the Earth’s Crust – From Geophysical Sounding to Real-Time Monitoring
© Heiner Igel / LMU
Structures and changes in the Earth's crust can be studied using tomographic methods. Increasingly the temporal component plays a major role thereby. It is this fourth dimension that regulates processes such as the rising of salt bodies or changes in ground and stratum water system. With new technologies, especially with the combination of different measurement methods , geoscientists now want to exactly observe these temporal changes in detail.
