Going Underground
18 exhibition month, six venues all over Germany and more than 120.000 visitors - "In die Tiefe gehen (Going Underground)" informed a broad audience about the observation, protection, and utilization of the Underground at locations in Stuttgart, Dortmund, Leipzig, Munich, Berlin and Bremerhaven from April 2004 until October 2005.
Starting with a brief overview on mining history, the visitors got an insight look into modern technology which is used by scientists and engineers to get a picture of the structure and dynamic of the world beneath our feet. Exhibits from mining and monitoring as well as interactive media stations made the trip into our planet an amusing and informative experience for the visitors. Audiovisual effects sustainably underlined the educational modules of the exhibition, while "Sound from Mother Earth" where provided at the "Audio-Bar".
The exhibition "In die Tiefe gehen" (Going Underground) was part of public relations supporting the GEOTECHNOLOGIEN key area "Investigation, Use and Protection of the Underground", which today is divided into the Geological Storage of CO2 and Innovations in Tunnel Construction.
