Organisation

The strategic planning as well as the scientific and technological monitoring of the R&D-Programme is incumbent to the steering committee. The members of the committee are appointed by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research for a committee period of up to eight years. The committees chair is coevally chair of the "Senatskommission für Geowissenschaftliche Gemeinschaftsforschung" (Geokommission) of the German Research Foundation.

As an executive office the GEOTECHNOLOGIEN co-ordination office supports the steering committee. Together, the organisational bodies objectives are:

• scientific co-ordination and quality management
• foster interdisciplinary co-operations (national/international)
• identify and implement new scientific and technological trends
• focused support of technological innovations within GEOTECHNOLOGIEN
• integration of small and medium sized enterprises in future oriented research
• active knowledge transfer from science to application
• intense public relations and outreach activities
